(Stuart) A California man was hurt in a two-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 80 in Adair County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 3:42 p.m. on Saturday near the 93-mile marker. Massoud Babak, 32, of Livermore California was severely injured in the crash.
The Iowa State Patrol says Babak was driving a westbound 2017 Freightliner semi approaching another westbound semi stopped for traffic. The left lane was closed due to a previous accident. Babak, traveling at Interstate speed couldn’t get stopped in time, veered to the right and struck the right rear-end of a 2019 Volvo semi. The Freightliner came to rest in the right lane.
Stuart ambulance transported Babak to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. The driver of the Volvo semi, 32-year old Alexander Kucherenko, of Fort Myers, Florida was not hurt.
