(Atlantic) An Atlantic resident has a 7 ft. high; 4 ft. wide bible on display in hopes of bringing back the meaning of what Christmas is all about.
Albert Morgan said he would decorate his home for many years when he lived in Colorado, but there was always something missing. One day he came across plans for what was called the World’s Largest Bible. Since Albert doesn’t do woodworking, he enlisted the help of his friend Tim who is a Vietnam Veteran. Tim was more than willing to help.
“It seems like we’ve gotten away from Christmas and what it’s really about and more like Santa Claus and presents and I thought this bible kind of helps me remember what Christmas is really all about,” said Morgan. “When we started working on this project, I had never met a man like Tim before and he showed me a lot of stuff working with him together, not just about building things, but how to treat people.”
The bible took about one year to complete.
“About halfway through the project my buddy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, but he asked if he could complete the project which was fine. So, December 2010 we rolled the bible out to my house and that was the first year it was on display,” explained Morgan.
Albert Morgan moved to Atlantic from Colorado about two years ago and brought the bible with him.
“My buddy made me promise him before he got so bad, he said ‘whatever you do, don’t give it away, don’t sell it unless you talk to Churches first to see if they want to take it over,” said Morgan.
The bible weighs approximately 200 lbs. Albert Morgan said it is getting hard for his wife and him to put the bible up themselves, so he’s not sure how much longer they will be able display it.
