(Albia) An Albia man was killed in a car vs. pedestrian accident in Monroe County.
The Iowa State Patrol says 23-year-old Marcus Anthoney Major, of Albia, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Sedan west on Highway 34 at around 1:11 a.m. when a pedestrian, 23-year-old Zachary Allen Bates of Albia, entered the Highway. Major took evasive action by braking and swerving to the left. Major was unable to avoid striking Bates. Bates was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
