(Neola) Pottawattamie County Sgt. of Road Division Mark Freeman tells KSOM/KS95 News a Des Moines man who tried to escape numerous law Enforcement at a high rate of speed has been captured in Neola.
Sgt. Freeman identified the motorcycle operator as 18-year old Colton Fineran of Des Moines. Fineran is charged with speeding and aggravated eluding. He also has warrants out of Des Moines for Driving While Barred and will have an additional charge of DWB.
Fineran was driving a white 2008 Ducati reaching speeds of 130-150 miles per hour. Atlantic Police Chief Dave Erickson told KSOM/KS95 News he set up a road block at the Troublesome Creek Bridge on Olive Street. However, Fineran was able to turn around and head back to the Interstate and subsequently headed westbound into Pottawattamie County.
Sgt. Freeman says at around 9:27 a.m. Pottawattamie County Deputies clocked the speeding motorcycle traveling 123 miles an hour at the 43-mile marker. Sgt. Freeman says Officer’s set up strategic locations because it was too dangerous to pursue. Fineran exited the Interstate at the Neola exit. Freeman says thanks to the help of some community members, law enforcement was able to apprehend Fineran as he was standing next to his motorcycle in Neola.
Sgt. Freeman says Fineran was taken into custody without incident. His motorcycle was towed away.
