(Des Moines) Gas prices fell $.02 cents from last week’s price and are $.45 cents lower than a year ago, according to the latest weekly fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. The national average on Wednesday settled at $2.18, which is steady with last week’s price.
The price of crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate by $.63 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $42.52. Brent crude oil fell $ .55 and currently priced at $45.34. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $54.93 and Brent Crude sold at $59.32.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose $.01 this week with a statewide average of $2.22. This is $.60 lower than a year ago. The current price of diesel in Iowa is $.21 below the national average of $2.43.
Wholesale ethanol prices rose $.12, currently priced at $1.23.
Natural gas prices fell $.09 at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.12/MMbtu.
