(Atlantic) Members of the Atlantic Fire Department got to check out and do some training on their new rural pumper Tuesday evening.
Career Firefighter Bob Reynolds said the new Toyne pumper is replacing their old 1990 Ford pumper.
“It holds 1,000 gallons of water; 15 gallon per minute pump; we also have a secondary pump on it, a little diesel pump so we can pump and roll for grass fires and stuff like that. The plan is to mainly use it for rural fires at this point. We got the 4-wheel drive version, you know with the possible winter conditions it will maybe help us get through the snow and winter weather a little better,” said Reynolds.
Fire Chief Tom Cappel said, “The Fire Department would like to thank all of the Trustees for the purchase of this truck, it’s going to make our job a lot easier down the road.”
