(Anita) CAM was well represented on the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association’s All-District Teams.
The Cougars landed five honorees on the Southwest All-District team. Lane Spieker earned first team honors while Ben Tibken, Kolby Nelsen, Joe Kauffman, and Colby Rich all earned a spot on the 2nd team.
Spieker hit .480 with four homers, three triples, and five doubles. He scored 31 runs and drove in 30. Spieker walked 11 times and stole 18 bases. On the mound he posted a 4-2 record with a 3.17 ERA, .151 opponent average, 38 K’s, and 8 walks in 26 innings.
Tibken turned in an average of .405 and on base percentage of .500. He drove in 19 runs and scored 20 times. Nelsen batted .370 with 14 RBI. He was 2-0 on the hill with a 0.64 ERA in ten innings pitched. Kauffman’s pitching numbers showed a 3-0 record, 1.11 ERA, .080 opponent average, and 16 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings. At the plate Kauffman was a .370 hitter with five doubles, three triples, and 13 runs scored. Rich hit .420 with two home runs and 20 RBI. He was 1-0 as a pitcher with a 1.02 ERA, .094 opponent average, 22 K’s, and seven walks in 13 2/3 innings.
