(Kimballton) Exira-EHK softball is 9-0 on the season and has won every game by at least five runs. The Spartan’s matchup with CAM will air on 96.5 FM KSOM on Wednesday evening.
Macy Emgarten has been superb with five shutouts and 84 strikeouts on the year. The sophomore has a 1.04 ERA and opponents are hitting only .128 against them. “She’s been really great. She hits every spot you tell her to and she throws hard,” says coach Andrea Nulle.
Players like Shay Burmeister, Alisa Partridge, Kami Waymire, Quinn Grubbs, Mollie Rasmussen and others have provided plenty of run support.
Burmeister is hitting .562 with 15 runs scored and 17 stolen bases. Partridge is among the conference leaders with 13 RBI and carries a .452 average. Waymire’s numbers include six doubles among her 12 hits with nine RBI and a batting average of .581. Rasmussen is hitting .381 and Quinn Grubbs is at .522.
Coach Nulle says the offense has probably been the biggest bright spot so far, “I was a little nervous going in without having much of a preseason, but we definitely came out of the gate firing.”
She expects a good matchup with CAM on Wednesday. “I know they are going to compete. They are going to challenge us. They are a well coached team and have good athletes. We are going to have to play our best to be able to beat them.”
