(Guthrie Center) The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors discussed adding additional language to the county’s burial policy at Tuesday’s meeting.
Guthrie County Auditor Dani Fink says the previous policy didn’t include cremation services. Amy Davis from Guthrie County Affairs wanted to add the services to the plan.
“Typically, the county’s amount for someone needing burial assistance is only enough to cover cremation,” explained Fink. “Often times that’s the only option families may be looking at if they don’t have enough funds to cover it. Additionally, other portions of the contract were updated to make the contract clearer and make it flow together.”
In other activities, the board heard from IT Director Brian Hoffman regarding setting up a video conferencing package system in the boardroom.
“A newer phone and line would eventually replace the old system in the boardroom,” said Fink. “This way, the supervisors can access a phone line system and video conferencing for meetings. Fink says the supervisors gave Hoffman the green light to set up this upgraded system.
The board also approved fireworks permits for LPA, Rita Schering, Paul Z. Davis, and Regina Lloyd.
