(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council recognizing the fourth of July lands on a Saturday changed the ordinance for the Independence Day discharge of fireworks.
Atlantic Mayor Dave Jones says the current ordinance allows for the use of fireworks on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of July. The Council agreed on Wednesday to change the dates to July 2, July 3, and July 4, to alleviate the use of fireworks on Sunday. Under the ordinance fireworks can be discharged from noon to 11:00 p.m. on those three days.
Moving forward the Council will set the dates annually for the discharge of fireworks for Independence Day Fireworks annually by resolution.
The City will once again host a fireworks display on July 3 at the AMU Wellfield adjacent to the Little League Complex.
