(Elk Horn) Exira-EHK’s Instructional Support Levy has been extended for another five years.
Following a public hearing on Monday, the Exira-EHK School Board has approved an Instructional Support Levy. Superintendent Trevor Miller says, “It was a renewal of what we’ve been doing and most of the community already knows how we use our Instructional Support Levy. We ended up passing that for five years.”
Additionally this week the board approved a milk bid to Dean’s at nineteen cents per pint, Bimbo for the bread bid, and a fuel bid to Grieve Petroleum at a locked in rate of $1.70. An agreement was entered into with Frontline Education for three years at a total cost of $32,000. “With time cards and leaves it will be all electronic. It’ll be easier for our HR and Business Office to have it. It’ll really help in streamlining things and making sure timecards are up to date.”
The board has also entered into a memorandum of understanding with the department of education for skip the trip permit testing. “That’s allowing us to offer students to take their permit test here instead of kids having to get out of school and miss more school time. It doesn’t cost us anything and it’s a benefit to our families so they aren’t trying to re-arrange their schedules on days that they are open.”
Heather Eischied has resigned as school counselor and NHS sponsor. Brittany Williams resigned as 3rd grade teacher. Alexis Velky has been hired to teach 3rd grade and Niki Cade will serve as the K-12 school counselor. Dan Spooner will be split 50/50 with IKM-Manning in a digital technology role.
