(Exira) Craig and Becky Parmley are such big followers of Exira-EHK activities that Becky is known by some as “Mom Becky” or “The Basketball Mom.”
It is a title and role she has embraced, even though it wasn’t something she planned on. They started going to games when their son Cody was in elementary school and have become more and more involved ever since.
Becky’s husband Craig is an Exira grad. You could say he’s well invested in the teams. His fandom starts way before they arrive at the game.
Becky was asked to compare and contrast her style as a fan to that of her cheering companions.
The main reason they started going to game was to get to become more connected to the community.
Craig shares one example of their involvement paying off.
It’s important to the Parmley’s to do more than just cheer and go home. They try to support the athletes in any way possible. Craig comments on why that is important to do.
As far as Spartan highlights go (2010-present), Craig remembers an overwhelming sense of pride when they beat Glidden-Ralston to go to the Dome in 2012.
The Parmley’s both noted the “Hoop there it is” cheer after a three-pointer is especially near and dear to their heart.
