(Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Public Health reports 300 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 additional deaths, bringing the total number of known positive tests to 15,296 and 367 deaths.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds at Tuesday’s daily briefing is considering whether to allow additional activities to resume as her current proclamation prohibiting large gatherings and operations of some businesses expires on May 27. Reynolds will announce her intentions on Wednesday. As they review the declaration in place, additional announcements will come out next week.
Reynolds recently allowed restaurants, fitness centers, malls, and hair salons to reopen with limits. Still, she continued the closure for many other businesses. They include bars, casinos, movie theaters, and amusement parks.
