(Johnston) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says positive cases of COVID-19 in the state stabilized over this past week.
The Governor reported on Friday morning, 374 new positive cases and 3,888 negative cases, for a daily positivity rate of 8.3 percent. Fifty-percent have recovered, and 1-34 residents have been tested.
On the negative side, 18-more Iowa residents died from the virus. Sixteen of the 18 are from long term health care facilities.
“As I have indicated we continue to make testing a priority at our long term care facilities for both the employees and the residents,” said Governor Reynolds. “Currently 95-percent of our facilities have tested their employees and residents.”
Reynolds says hospitalization rates are stable, and continued use of ICU beds and ventilators is also decreasing. The Governor says another positive sign-for the first time there will be no PPE deliveries this weekend within the state. Additionally, requests for PPE have decreased significantly, and “the stockpile is in a good place.”
