(Adair) Whether it was as a player or a coach Wade Anderson has been associated with a lot of winning football at Adair-Casey. Anderson has been retired from coaching for a handful of years now to spend more time with his young family.
There are some things he misses about coaching and some things he doesn’t miss. “I miss the Friday night’s of football and the baseball games in the summer. The competition is always a rush so you miss those times. You don’t necessarily miss the every day grind of practice, but you still miss being around the guys.”
Anderson says he’s considered making a return to coaching, but with three kids under the age of four there isn’t much time for that. Anderson grew up around sports with his dad being the AD at Adair-Casey. His father, Glenn, was one of several key influences that guided him towards coaching. “Coach Pauk is still my idol from a football coaching perspective and coach Wood and coach Hutchings. They all molded me into a human being, but also what I wanted to be from a coaching perspective. There were a lot of people, but my dad was my biggest driver.”
In 2009 he helped lead the Bombers to their first ever state baseball tourney. Football notables included playoff trips in 2004, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, and 13. They were the runner-up in 2004 and also went to the Dome in 2009 and 2013.
The weight room helped build a lot of the success and Anderson credits both Bob Pauk and Ron Peck for getting things established. Anderson’s early coaching days were at the start of 8-Player. His first season as head coach marked the Bomber’s 4th state championship game appearance in five years.
