(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for nearly all of Iowa from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. this evening.
Forecasters say northwest winds of 25-35 miles per hour with gusts over 45 miles per hour are possible. Passing rain and snow showers may briefly increase wind gusts to 50 to 55 miles per hour this afternoon.
The gusty winds could blow down trees causing a few powers outages. Motorists are advised to use extra caution, especially if traveling in a high profile vehicle.
Fremont and Page counties in extreme southwest Iowa are also under a Red Flag Warning. Gusty northwest winds combined with low humidity are ample fuel sources for dangerous fire conditions.
