(Atlantic) Sunnyside Park in Atlantic has been “egged”.
Bryant Rasmussen, Parks and Recreation Director, said there will be an egg display/egg find through Sunnyside Park on Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Rasmussen said the idea to put eggs in the park was presented by park foreman Kyle Welter’s wife to go along with the egg hunt that is going on throughout the town.
“Our original plan was to get about 15 to 16 eggs painted and we were going to space them out for all our park properties that we maintain. Then, Kyle put out asking if there was anyone interested in painting these eggs and within 5 or 10 minutes we had 40 people that had responded saying that they would want some of these eggs, so it kind of had ballooned from there,” explained Rasmussen.
The route will start at the 14th Street entrance and follow the road to Sunnyside Lane. You must remain in your cars the whole time. The decorated eggs will be lined along the road and people can vote on their favorites.
“On top of all of those eggs that are decorated we do have some smaller eggs that are going to be hidden a little bit more strategically and there is a couple of gold eggs so if you’re coming through and can find the gold eggs we’re going to have some small knick knacks and grab bag prizes that people can have if they can find the gold eggs,” said Rasmussen.
Rasmussen asks that everyone follow the CDC guidelines about social distancing.
“Obviously we’re looking to find something that allows people to just get out of the house and enjoy the parks that we have but we just hope that people will continue to respect the CDC guidelines of social distancing so that way every single person can enjoy it the same amount,” said Rasmussen.
