(Underwood) District wrestling starts at noon on Saturday. KS95.7 FM will have coverage from the Class 2A District Tournament in Atlantic. 96.5FM KSOM will provide updates from a Class 1A District Tourney in Underwood.
The Audubon Wheelers will have two athletes vying for a spot in the state tournament field. The top two wrestlers in each weight class advance. Luke Mosinski is ranked 10th at 220 pounds with his 36-8 record. Wheeler co-head coach Shawn Bolhmann says Mosinski is wrestling well. “His goal is to be a state champion, but he definitely wants to be on the stand and he looked good on Saturday.”
In order to get to state Mosinski will have to top 25-22 Leland Barr in his semifinal match before seeing either 32-9 Tallen Meyers, of SW Valley, or 31-10 Chris Gardner, of Underwood. Coach Bohlmann admits sectional runner-up Javyn Bladt will have a tough road at 160. That bracket includes 9th ranked Austin Wilson, of Nodaway Valley, and 10th ranked Denver Pauley, of AHSTW.
