(Yorktown) Two people were arrested following an investigation into child abuse in Page County.
The Page County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint Friday from the Iowa Department of Human Services in reference to an alleged incident of child abuse at a residence in Yorktown. During the investigation, five minor children were taken into protective custody and turned over to the Iowa Department of Human Services for temporary placement.
Aaron Duwayne Childs, 36, and Elizabeth Renee Peek, 32, both of Yorktown, were each arrested on charges of Child Endangerment (class D felony) and Assault Causing Bodily Injury (serious misdemeanor). Childs was also arrested on a Page County Warrant for Driving While License Suspended / Revoked – failing to appear for court.
Both Peek and Childs posted bond and were released pending further court proceedings.
