(Mapleton) The Iowa Department of Public Safety identified the victim in the January 31 shooting in Mapleton.
Authorities say the victim is identified as 16-year old Joseph Hopkins, of Mapleton. The State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Monday.
Mapleton Police and EMS responded to a 9-1-1 call of a shooting that occurred in Mapleton at around 9:40 p.m. on January 31. The 16-year old teen died as the result of a single gunshot wound. The witnesses at the scene were also minors.
Investigators don’t believe there is a current danger to the public. The investigation continues and no other details are available at this time.
