(Des Moines) Iowa health officials are reporting 50 confirmed measles cases statewide in 2026 and have identified two potential exposure locations in Osage.
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services says individuals may have been exposed at Mitchell County Regional Health Center on October 29 between 9:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., and October 30 between 10:55 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.
Anyone who was at the facility during those times should monitor for symptoms, including fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes and rash.
Anyone who develops symptoms after a possible exposure should call their healthcare provider or emergency room before arriving.
Health officials say vaccination remains the best protection against measles and encourage Iowans to check their MMR vaccination status as cases continue to spread in Iowa and neighboring states.
