(Harlan, IA) — Harlan is getting ready for their first playoff game in 2 years — the Cyclones visit Des Moines Christian on Friday.
After missing the post-season a year ago, Harlan was able to win their last four district games to qualify as the #2 seed out of 3A District 6. Head Coach Todd Bladt feels like his team has made great strides all areas on the offense
The big play guys are the receivers with three seniors in particular — Landon Nihsen has 33 catches for 428 yards and 6 TD, Cade Nelson has 23 receptions for 239 yards and a score and Colton Schneider has 11 catches in five district games for 209 yards and 5 TD
If Junior QB Kreed Boggess is going to connect with one of his receivers on a big play, he will need the time to throw it and Bladt hopes his offensive line can give him the necessary protection because the Lions can bring pressure
DMC is led by Senior Tailback Davis Tokheim with 1,213 yards and 20 TD — Bladt says he is a shifty kind of back
Technically the playoffs start on Friday for 3A but Bladt says the Cyclones have been in playoff mode ever since the loss to Carroll
5-4 Harlan visits 9-0 Des Moines Christian — the winner will play either Williamsburg or Mount Pleasant.
