(Atlantic) The Atlantic Volunteer Fire Department’s annual donation breakfast on October 4 kicks off Fire Prevention Week. The breakfast will be held from 7:00 a.m. to noon at the Fire Station. Atlantic Fire Department Lt. Jake Vetter mentions several organizations, businesses, and individuals that help support the breakfast each year.
During the week, firefighters will visit with elementary and preschool students to discuss fire safety, what to do in a fire, and who to call. Lt. Vetter says this year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety.”
The Annual 2026 Firemen’s parade will cap off the week on October 10th in downtown Atlantic. Vetter says prizes will be awarded to the best “Fire Prevention” float, and this year a new award for the best “Patriotic” float honoring the nation’s 250th Anniversary.
The parade lineup begins at 4:00 p.m. At 3rd and Olive Street. The parade starts at 6:00 p.m.
