(Carroll) Carroll and Lewis Central square off this Friday night in a battle of two football powerhouses in their respective classes. Lewis Central is ranked No. #3 in Class 4A, and Carroll is rated #9 in Class 3A. Both teams are 2-1 in non-district play.
The Tigers’ running attack is impressive, to say the least, with 840 yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, and an average of 6.8 yards per carry. Head Coach Craig Rowedder says one of the reasons for this success is the return of four all-district offensive linemen, Brody Daniel, Myles Pudenz, Cayden Lueders, and all-district and first-team all-state running back Adam Malik.
Rowedder says the new starters on the offensive line are fitting in nicely, including tackle Wyatt Vetter and center Alex Powell.
Coach Rowedder mentioned the passing game is also coming around with quarterback Camden King. The Senior has completed 24 of 41 passes for 332 yards and 4 touchdowns. Chase Schable leads the receiving corps. With 12 catches for 187 yards.
Lewis Central is equally impressive on offense, led by Brayden Doss, who Coach Rowedder believes is the best running back in Class 4A. Doss has rushed for 546 yards, nine touchdowns, and 8.5 yards per carry.
The Titans have a balanced attack, with 577 yards on the ground and 518 through the air. Camden Corrill is 24-31, throwing all for 419 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Last year’s matchup between these two teams was a one-point game. Lewis Central held the edge with a 35-34 win. Coach Rowedder says he tried to block it out. The Tigers gave up five turnovers and a kick return but still managed to stay in the game with a chance to win.
The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium.
