(Atlantic) The Cass County Grow Another Row Committee is inviting community members to a free Harvest & Preserve Event September 30 at Mollett Park in Atlantic.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and will run until approximately 7 p.m. in a come-and-go format. Participants can learn how to harvest, handle, freeze and preserve fresh, in-season produce.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the Mollett Park community garden and edible landscaping space, harvest and sample fresh-picked produce, and visit resource stations with recipes and tips for enjoying local fruits and vegetables throughout the year.
Participants will receive fresh produce to take home, a produce freezing kit, an herb plant to grow on a windowsill, free recipe samples and easy recipes using in-season produce.
The event is free and open to everyone, but registration is encouraged by September 25 so organizers can prepare.
The Grow Another Row Committee also connects community members with opportunities to donate excess produce, help harvest or transport food, and assist with the Mollett Park community garden.
