(Red Oak, IA) — After a slow start, #5 Riverside rallied in the first set and went on to sweep #11 Red Oak to stay in first place in the Western Iowa Conference.
The Bulldogs beat the Tigers on their home floor 25-21, 25-18, 25-11.
Red Oak got some strong points on Mariel Ramirez’s serve in the first set to take a 15-8 lead but Riverside started to poke away at the lead. It was 11-17, 13-18, 15-19. Vivian Gross got a huge block and then a doughnut in back to back points to make it 19-20. The Bulldogs tied it up and on Sydney Somers serve, Gross got a big kill and Somers got an ace on set point to win it.
It was all Riverside from there. Freshman Dani Bramman got two aces in the 2nd set and Lilli Reed and Sydney Somers asserted control on offense.
In the third set, it was tied 5-5 and the Bulldogs got a side out and on Lilli Reed’s service, Riverside scored 7 points to take a 13-5 lead and dominated to a three set sweep.
