(Ames, IA) — Iowa is in the middle of an apple harvest. The season started early this year due to the hotter weather. Randall Vos is with the horticulture department at Iowa State and says some orchards sell varieties you won’t find in stores, like Gold Rush.
Vos says if you like honeycrisp apples, there is a new generation to look for.
Vos says Iowa is seeing a smaller yield this year.
The apple harvest season usually lasts through mid-October.
