(Des Moines) We are kicking things off this week with a wet weather pattern, with showers already occurring and more showers and storms forecast for later tonight. Tyler Ryan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines, expects rain over the same spots, which could lead to widespread areas seeing higher amounts over the next several days.
Ryan says some areas could use the rain, while others will be prone to river flooding.
Ryan says the active weather will last through mid-week, with a few breaks, before more storms sweep through the area late this week into the weekend, and early next week. Ryan says all types of severe weather is also in play during this activity pattern this week.
A Flood Watch is in effect from this morning and continuing through Tuesday morning across portions of southwestern, central, and northeastern Iowa.
