(Iowa City, IA) — It was another close Cy Hawk Rivalry game on Saturday. Iowa’s Caden Buhr kicked a 42 yard field goal with 15 seconds left as the Hawkeyes broke a two game losing streak against Iowa St. with a 16-13 win.
Iowa was favored by two touchdowns but the ISU defense controlled the Hawkeye running game and they were only able to get some yardage on the ground in the 4th quarter.
The Hawkeyes defense was equally excellent as the Cyclones were held to just a field goal in the 2nd half and that was early in the third quarter. Iowa had 284 yards of total offense while Iowa St. had just 255.
Hank Brown played the entire game at quarterback for Iowa and was 21 of 30 passing for 191 yards plus had 22 yards rushing including a TD. Tony Diaz had 12 catches for 95 yards. Kamari Moulton had 57 yards rushing and 31 yards receiving.
Aiden Flora had 12 carries for 89 yards for Iowa St. — Jaylen Raynor was 10 of 19 passing for 117 yards and a TD but was held to just 18 yards rushing.
Sullivan Schlimgren led the Cyclone defense with 9 tackles; Cam Buffington had 15 tackles for Iowa.
Iowa is now 2-0 and will host UNI next Saturday.
Iowa St. falls to 1-1; the Cyclones will host 0-2 Bowling Green next Saturday, Cyclones Pre Game at 9:00 am, kickoff 11 am on KSOM.
