(Atlantic) The Atlantic football team improved to 1-1 on the season with a 36-7 win over Denison-Schleswig last week. The Trojans travel to fifth-ranked Des Moines Christian Friday night.
Atlantic football Coach Joe Brummer says winning always helps and gives the team more confidence, and added a little skip in their step during practice this week
Coach Brummer has brought a brand of football that emphasizes the running game, and it is already paying dividends. Senior running back Ethan McNeal is a prime example of the Trojans’ success on the ground, surpassing 2,000 career rushing yards in Week 2. Under Coach Brummer’s direction, there are four backs currently in the top ten all-time career rushers in Atlantic football history.
The Trojans are facing a solid opponent on Friday. Des Moines Christian is 2-0 on the season and has an impressive rushing attack as well. The Lions have 571 rushing yards, for an average of 7.8 yards per carry, led by Davis Tokeim with 51 carries for 456 yards and six touchdowns.
Coach Brummer says the theme for practice this week is “We not Me.”
Much like the Lions, the Trojans’ offense is producing on the ground and through the air, with 363 rushing yards and 244 passing yards this season.
