(Iowa City, IA) — Its the week of the 2026 opening football game and the Iowa Hawkeyes do not have a clear number one quarterback. The team released their first depth chart on Monday and Hank Brown OR Jeremy Hecklinski was listed at the top of the QB position. At Tuesday’s weekly press conference, Head Coach Kirk Ferentz still says that its a dead heat
Ferentz says that Brown and Hecklinski have gone back and forth and generally things have been positive and both will get the chance to play this Saturday
Back in 2008, Ricky Stanzi and Jake Christensen each started two games out of the first four before the decision was made to go with Stanzi. It worked out in the long term but Ferentz says not in the short term
