(Cass Co.) The Cass County Board of Supervisors pledged support for the Nishna Valley Family YMCA Renovation and Remodeling project.
Through the leadership of Vision Atlantic and a lead gift from the Charles E. Lakin Foundation, the Atlantic YMCA is planning a major renovation that will transform the facility into a multi-use community destination. Upon completion, it will be renamed the Lakin Foundation YMCA of Atlantic.
The renovated facility will include expanded fitness areas along with dedicated spaces for seniors, teens, young families and children. Planned amenities include a children’s museum, indoor play café, movie theater and e-sports venue, community recreation areas, STEAM rooms, expanded Childwatch services, accessible locker rooms, and a concessions area, coffee shop and kitchen. Outdoor amenities will include a patio with fire pits and games.
Dan Haynes, Executive Director of the Nishna Valley Family YMCA, said the county’s contribution is part of the CAT grant application.
The Supervisor’s approved a $5,000 contribution from LOST funds.
