(Atlantic) The Atlantic girls’ tennis team is 6-1 as we head to the midpoint of the season. The Trojans defeated Creston and Glenwood this past week.
Coach McDermott says the team is rallying behind its two seniors, No. 1 and No. 2 singles players Jacobi Harter and Lily Willrich.
On Thursday, the Trojans topped Glenwood 8-1. Coach McDermott says the underclassmen highlighted this match.
The Trojans host a group of highly competitive teams in their own tournament on Wednesday, including Clarinda, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, Audubon, Creston, Harlan, Lewis Central, and Shenandoah.
The Trojans have won five straight matches and host their own tournament on Wednesday. In singles, Hope Hammontree is 7-0, Taryn O’Brien and Dylin Ball are each 6-1, Lily Willrich is 4-3, Sophie Rose is 3-2, Jacobi Harter is 3-3, and Lucy Northwick is 1-0.
The Tournament on Wednesday starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Atlantic High School tennis courts.
