(Atlantic) Sophomore quarterback James Brauer says he was a little nervous heading into his first varsity start, and he came through with flying colors. Brauer completed 11-of-19 passes for 169 yards and four touchdowns. That is a completion rate of 57.9 percent, and averaging 15.4 yards per catch. For his efforts, Brauer is this week’s “KS95.7 Armour Insurance Trojan Athlete of the Week.” The Trojans put up 48 points despite the loss to Glenwoos 63-48.
Brauer credits Coach Mosier and Coach Kelly for calming his nerves before the game.
Brauer admits he had to adjust to the opposition’s size and speed.
Brauer said he is going to work on going through his progressions this week.
The Trojans compiled 269 yards of total offense. Ethan McNeal led the rushing attack with 17 carries for 68 yards. Zander Killion led the receivers with four catches for 82 yards and three touchdowns.
Additionally, the Trojans scored two touchdowns on back-to-back kickoff returns from Benton McLaren and Ethan McNeal.
Atlantic hosts Denison-Schleswig on Friday night. The kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
