(Griswold, IA) — For the first time since 2011, Griswold football won its season opener and Callen Keiser led the way with his go ahead 79 yard interception return for a touchdown and for that, the Senior is our GG Harris Farm Bureau KSOM Athlete of the Week.
With the game tied at 6-6 early in the third quarter, East Mills was driving and on 2nd and 10, QB Khayden Poorker was flushed from the pocket. He rolled to the left and the Tigers pas rush stayed in front him. Parker tried to throw downfield across his body and Keiser picked it right in front of the goal line. With a wall of blockers in front of him, he went the length of the field for a pick six TD and a 2 point conversion gave Griswold a 14-6 lead. They went on to win 20-6. It was the 2nd TD of the game for Keiser who earlier caught a 16 yard TD on the first drive of the game.

Griswold only lost two seniors from last year’s 1-8 team so Keiser says this team has something to prove
Keiser finished the game last Friday with 4 receptions for 57 yards and a TD and had 3.5 tackles on defense with his pick six. Griswold visits Stanton-Essex this Friday.
