(Atlantic) The Atlantic football team is wrapping up its first week of official preseason practice, with rebuilding the offensive line among the priorities for Head Coach Joe Brummer and his staff.
The Trojans return two all-district performers, Travin Thomas and Owen Miller, who will anchor the offensive line this season. Brummer says both players have been consistent performers in the weight room during the off-season.
The Trojans will look to replace three outstanding performers from last season: Donovan Hedrington, Jack Muller, and Kael Cameron.
Like the running back position, several players are competing for these spots, including a number of underclassmen and possibly a senior.
Brummer says relying on younger players can have both advantages and challenges.
Whoever earns those positions will be expected to help maintain the tradition of a strong Atlantic rushing attack. The Trojans rushed for 2,217 yards last season after totaling 3,189 yards on the ground two years ago.
Atlantic will travel to Shenandoah for a scrimmage on August 21 before opening the regular season at Glenwood on August 28.
