(Atlantic) Seventeen boys and nine girls reported to Atlantic’s preseason cross country workouts on Monday. Both squads have a lot of experience returning from last year’s team.
The boys are led by junior Mason Betts, a state qualifier from a year ago. They are joined by others with varsity experience, such as Thomas Engler, Caleb Andersen, Nolyn, and Kooper Kinney.
The girls’ team enters the season with a small roster, but the nine athletes on the squad bring plenty of talent and experience.
Coach Vargason mentioned some younger runners who should deepen the boys’ roster.
Coach Vargason says they will gradually work the younger and inexperienced runners into the system. He says the main focus is getting the runners used to the distance.
The Trojans open the season at Glenwood on August 29
