(Atlantic) The Atlantic girls’ tennis team opens the 2026 season at home Friday against Kuemper Catholic. The Trojans edged the Knights 5-4 in last year’s season opener, and Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott expects another competitive matchup. McDermott says Kuemper consistently fields a strong team, but the Trojans will face an added challenge this time around as No. 1 singles player Jacobi Harter will miss the meet while attending church camp.
Coach McDermott says the lineup is set with Lily Willrich competing in the No.1 singles spot.
Dylin Ball will fill the No. 2 spot, and Taryn O’Brien at No. 3.
McDermott says Sophie Rose is playing at N0. 4. He says Rose has come up through the ranks, and he is excited to see her break into the lineup. Hope Hammontree is playing at No. 5, and Lucy Northwick, a freshman, is at No. 6.
Lily Willrich and Dylin Ball will team up at No. 1 doubles. Taryn O’Brien, and Sophie Rose at Number #2, and Hope Hammontree and Lucy Northwick at Number #3.
The match starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Atlantic High School Tennis Courts.
