(Des Moines, IA) — Public schools in Iowa should be given waivers from things like standardized testing to make them more innovative. That’s according to Zach Lahn, the Republican nominee for Iowa Governor. He says districts should have the option of developing outcomes tailored to individual students.
Lahn supports school choice vouchers, as long as public schools are given the chance to compete. His Democratic opponent Rob Sand is against the vouchers, saying public funding is going to wealthy Iowans who would be sending their kids to private school anyway.
