(Oakland, IA) — It was a disappointing end to the Riverside softball season but it was far from a disappointing season. The Bulldogs finished 25-6 but the goal of going to the state tournament did not come true after Logan Magnolia won in the team’s third meeting this season in the Regional Finals. Head Coach Darrell Frain says there were many accomplishments this season including Senior Adaline Martens and Sophomore Peyton Schafer were both named 2nd Team All State and Sophomore Sophia Fenner was selected 3rd Team All State
Schafer was in tears after the Lo Ma game but it does not overshadow a great season — hitting .337, 4 HR, 4 RBI and had a 2.33 ERA in the circle. Frain expects her to come back even stronger in 2027
Riverside is in position to contend next season with a strong Junior class that will become Seniors — Fenner (.474), Sydney Somers (.348), Kayden Schnack (.449), Kaycie Perkins (.283) and Lilli Reed (.293). Frain says its a good group
The Bulldogs two seniors — Martens and Madison Kelley leave Riverside tied as the school’s all-time hits leaders.
