(Worth County) Four people from Kearney, Nebraska, were injured Thursday afternoon after a crash in a work zone along Interstate 35 in Worth County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 4:52 p.m. near the 212-mile marker on northbound I-35.
Authorities say a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a 2026 Volkswagen Taos were both traveling north through the work zone when the pickup began merging and slowing down. Investigators say the Volkswagen attempted to pass the pickup and struck the rear passenger-side bumper of the Silverado.
The impact caused the Volkswagen to enter the median, where it rolled several times.
All four occupants of the Volkswagen suffered injuries. Their names have not been released, but the Iowa State Patrol said all four are from Kearney, Nebraska.
Three of the injured occupants were transported by ground ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. The fourth person was airlifted to the same hospital.
