(Des Moines) The National Weather Service is forecasting heat index values to reach 100-to-105 degrees today. A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 8:00 p.m. today.
The National Weather Service says there is an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) for severe storms late this afternoon through evening. Damaging winds are the primary threat, though large hail, a tornado, and heavy rain are all possible. Evening severe storms depend on how storms evolve this morning.
