(Undated) The new National Drought Monitor Map shows a slight expansion of areas of moderate drought in Western and Northern Iowa. State Climatologist Justin Glisan says southwest Iowa is experiencing increased dryness.
Despite a mostly dry, hot week, there’s not much change in Iowa’s drought in the rest of the state.
Right now, about 70 percent of Iowa is drought-free. That could change with little to no rain in the forecast through the weekend.
