(Keokuk) Five people were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash involving a Peterbilt semi, a Dodge Durango, and a Dodge Charger in Keokuk County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened Tuesday afternoon at around 12:22 p.m. Authorities identified the injured persons as 32-year-old Sabrina Ryan, a 2-year-old, and a 5-year-old, all of What Cheer, Iowa; Megan Tucker of Oskaloosa, Iowa; and 47-year-old Dawn M. Nickel of Ottumwa.
According to the report, a 2019 Dodge Charger (Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office Transport), driven by Tucker, was eastbound on Highway 92 approaching the Highway 21 junction. Meanwhile, a 2026 Dodge Durango, driven by Sabrina Ryan, departed the stop sign while traveling south and failed to yield to the Charger. The Charger broadsided the Durango, causing it to slide into the semi that was also stopped at the intersection.
Keokuk ambulance transported Sabrina Ryan, the five-year-old, and the two-year-old to the Mahaska County hospital. Mahaska County Deputy transported Tucker to the Mahaska Hospital, and Nickel was taken by Mahaska County Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital.
