(Council Bluffs) Area residents are invited to attend a Free Medical Power of Attorney and Living Will Clinic and Resource Fair on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 715 N. 16th Street, Council Bluffs.
The event is hosted by the Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC) Aging Committee in partnership with Connections Area Agency on Aging and local community organizations.
Volunteer attorneys will be available to help participants complete a Medical Power of Attorney and Living Will at no cost. Reservations are required for document preparation, and Spanish translation support will be available.
In addition to free legal assistance, attendees can visit a community resource fair featuring organizations that support older adults in aging safely and independently. Participating organizations include Connections Area Agency on Aging, Bethany Lutheran Home, Angels Home Health, Home Care Advocacy Network (HCAN), Simple Senior Solutions, Chapters Living, Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement, Hansen House, and other local community resources.
“Many people know they should complete advance care planning documents but aren’t sure where to begin,” said Tasha Jones, Assistant Director of Consumer Services at Connections Area Agency on Aging. “This clinic removes common barriers by providing free legal assistance, trusted community resources, and an opportunity to make informed decisions that protect your wishes and bring peace of mind to you and your family.”
The event is made possible through the collaboration among the HSAC Aging Committee, community partners, and local attorneys, who are donating their time and expertise to assist community members in completing these important advance care planning documents.
