(Oakland, IA) — Since tasting defeat at last year’s state tournament, Riverside softball has been motivated to go back and do better than 3rd place — the Bulldogs first test in the Regional playoffs is hosting AC/GC tonight, coverage on KSOM.
Riverside is the top ranked team in Class 2A and had won 15 in a row until a loss to Gilbert but they have recovered to win their last five and are 23-5 overall.
AC/GC is 7-22 and coming off a 12-2 win over Treynor on Monday, scoring 4 runs in the 3rd and 8 runs in the 4th to 10 run rule the Cardinals. The Chargers have scored 24 runs in their last two games and on Monday three freshmen each had two hits — Jerzee Huss, Kailee Kautzky and Trinity Calhoun. Head Coach Tyler Merical says their young players have come up big
It will either be Huss (5.56 ERA) or Sophomore Megan Underwood (5.56 ERA) in the circle to face a very deep Riverside line up. Merical says everything has to go their way
AC/GC visits Riverside, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM, first pitch tonight at 7 pm.
