(Des Moines, IA) — Almost 400 people living at the Parkside East apartments in Des Moines are displaced after severe flooding on Friday. Residents will be able to learn more about next steps during information sessions this morning at 10:30. One will be held at the temporary shelter at Hoyt Middle School, and the other at the community room at Hilltop Apartments. Residents were allowed back into their units at their own risk Sunday afternoon to retrieve their belongings.
A Teenager Is Dead After Shooting At West Des Moines 4th Of July Party
(West Des Moines, IA) — A teenager is dead after a shooting at a Fourth of July party in West Des Moines. Police say they responded to a home on 20th Place at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers say a teen was suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the victim died from their injuries. Investigators say they believe shots were fired after a verbal altercation at the party.
