(Lewis) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking for the public’s help with its annual wild turkey production survey during July and August.
DNR Fisheries Biologist John Lorenzen says sightings reported by residents help biologists estimate this year’s nesting rates and overall nest success.
Those who participate are asked to record the date and county where the turkey was spotted, whether the bird was an adult male or female, and the number of poults observed with the adult.
Lorenzen says the survey link is available on the DNR website, which also includes turkey identification information for anyone who needs help distinguishing male and female birds.
