(Adel) Makenna Pitlick pitched a gem to lead ADM over Atlantic 7-1 in a non-Conference softball game at ADM High School on Tuesday.
Pitlick allowed one run on three hits, struck out 11, and didn’t walk a batter in seven innings of work. Brynn Lamp took the loss for the Trojans. The junior allowed five runs on seven hits, with one strikeout, one walk, and one hit batter. Peyton McLaren pitched in relief for the Trojans, allowing no runs on one hit in two innings of work.
The Trojans opened up a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Jillian Saathoff’s solo home run over the left-field fence.
The Tigers answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Makenna Pitlick was hit by a pitch, and courtesy runner Karsyn Stanford entered to run. Addi Siedelmann then flied out to left field, leaving Stanford at first. Finley Schaul followed with a line-drive single to center, moving Stanford to third. Chloe Olthoff laid down a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher and was retired at first, but Stanford scored while Schaul advanced to second to tie the game at 1-1. Ellis Smith then lined a single to left, driving in Schaul to give ADMV a 2-1 lead. Later, Lauren Hagedorn hit a two-run home run to right field, scoring Smith and extending the lead to 4-1. The inning ended when Elliot Von Roden grounded out to the second baseman.
ADM plated three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Ellis Smith reached on an error, and Lauren Hagedorn followed with a walk, moving Smith to second. Elliot Von Roden then singled on a ground ball to center field, scoring Smith to make it 5-1 while Hagedorn advanced to second. Kinzie Maxwell added a line-drive single to right field, moving Hagedorn to third and Von Roden to second. Aubrey Noring lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Hagedorn to extend the lead to 6-1 as Von Roden advanced to third and Maxwell moved to second. Makenna Pitlick bunted back to the pitcher for the second out, leaving the runners at second and third. Addi Siedelmann then lined a single to left field, scoring Von Roden and advancing Maxwell to third to make it 7-1. With courtesy runners Kate Darling and Peyton Herrick on the bases, Darling advanced to second on defensive indifference before Finley Schaul struck out looking to end the inning with a 7-1 lead, which eventually became the final tally of the evening.
Lauren Hagedorn led the Tigers at the plate with a single and a two-run homer. Kinzie Maxwell went 2-3, and Ellis Smith hit an RBI single. Elliott Von Roden, Addison Seidleman, and Finely Schaul each contributed a hit.
Jillian Saathoff led the Trojans with a solo home run and a single. London Kirchhoff drilled a single to account for the Trojans’ three hits.
Atlantic (28-6) travels to Treynor on Wednesday. ADM hosts North Polk on Wednesday.
