(Griswold) The Griswold/CAM Softball team defeated Shenandoah and fell to Exira/EHK at Saturday’s Griswold Tiger Tournament.
The Griswold CAM Tigers opened the Tiger Tournament with an impressive 11-3 victory over Shenandoah in six innings.
The Tigers collected 11 hits in the win, led by Amanda Houser, Keeley Kinney, and Ailey Wahlert with two hits each. Houser tripled, drove in one run, scored three times, and helped spark the offense throughout the game. Kinney and Wahlert each doubled and knocked in two runs, while Kinney crossed the plate twice.
Carsyn Adams added a triple and scored a run. Braxton Gipple, Ashten Dorsey, Daphna Wahlert, and Brystol Wyman each contributed a hit. Dorsey finished with three RBIs and scored one run.
Ailey Wahlert earned the win in the circle. She struck out seven batters while allowing eight hits and one walk.
Exira/EHK/Audubon downed the Tigers 12-4 in the second game.
The Tigers took on Exira-EHK Audubon in the championship game and held a 4-3 lead heading into the fifth inning. However, the Spartans rallied and pulled away for a 12-4 victory.
Keeley Kinney led the Tigers offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate and scoring one run. Ashten Dorsey added a two-RBI home run to left-center field.
Ailey Wahlert started in the circle and pitched the first five innings. She struck out two batters, walked four, and allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs. Kinney pitched one inning of relief, recording two strikeouts and not allowing a hit.
The Spartans went 2-0 on the day with a 7-3 victory over St. Albert in the first round.
